Teacher Only Day – Friday 19 August

Kia ora whānau,

We hope you’re all safe and well and that you and your children have settled into Term 3 of 2022.

On Thursday 18 August, in the afternoon, we will be holding our annual ‘Whareathon’. This is a cross-country run where any student who takes part – no matter their speed or athleticism – can earn points for their Whare. It’s sure to be a fun day and students are encouraged to bring along clothes/dress-ups in their house colours to run in (just please keep the face paints at home!) and get into the spirit of our Whare competition.

Then, on Friday 19 August, Tangaroa College will be having a Teachers Only Day, so students will not need to be at school on this day.

This particular Teachers Only Day is one of the ‘Accord’ days that the Ministry of Education requires all schools to hold in order to learn about the changes happening to NCEA (our national qualifications) over the next couple of years. The focus for this day will be on proposed new NCEA Level 2 Achievement standards, as well as sharing feedback and findings from pilots the school is taking part in this year.

We look forward to seeing students back at school as normal on Monday 22 August.

Nga mihi,

Ms Clare Nelson
Deputy Principal
